chronometras statusas T sritis Gynyba apibrėžtis Tikslus kilnojamasis laikrodis su sandariu korpusu, saugančiu jį nuo aplinkos poveikio (temperatūros, slėgio, magnetinio lauko pokyčio). Chronometrą varo spiralinė spyruoklė. Rodyklių judėjimą reguliuoja spyruoklinis balansyras. Chronometras turi valandų, minučių ir sekundžių rodykles. Sekundinė rodyklė juda kas 0,5 s su aiškiai girdimu net už kelių metrų smūgio garsu. Chronometras įtaisomas taip, kad net korpusui pakrypus, liktų horizontalus. Naudojamas giroskopinėse sistemose, navigacijoje, aeronavigacijoje, geodezijoje, laivyboje ir kt. Šiuolaikinis elektroninis mechaninis ir elektroninis kvarcinis chronometras turi vidinę paros paklaidą apie ±0,01 s.
